System requirements

DocDistill requires macOS 14 or later. It is a universal app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

Getting started

1. Drag documents or a folder onto the window, or choose Add Documents.
2. Pick an output format.
3. Choose Export. DocDistill writes the files plus extraction-manifest.json to a folder you choose.

Supported formats

PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, HTML, XML, email, and plain text.

Troubleshooting

A scanned PDF with no text layer reports “No readable text” because DocDistill does no OCR.

Large batches are CPU-bound and run entirely locally. Processing time depends on your Mac and the size and complexity of the source documents.

The app contains no model weights and performs no inference.
